Theme Nights

Sports Night

We have the kids come dressed to support their favorite sports team, either professional or even the local school team. Whoever is the most supportive gets a prize: usually a candy bar.

Good Sam Night

We have Good Sam Night (Good Samaritan) where all the kids bring a non-perishable food item or toiletry item for a local charity. We just happen to have a Christian homeless center for men called the Good Samaritan Inn. But this could work for any charity.

Backwards Night

Have all the kids come to the Awana meeting wearing their clothes backwards. For game time, have the activities done backwards. Consider reversing the order of your program (i.e. if you usually have game time then handbook time then council time, try council time first followed by handbook and game times). For council time, use the idea of "backwards ways" people try to get to God (works, money, power, friends, etc.). Then explain that just like there is only one way to wear clothes, there is only one way to get to heaven (John 14:6).

Boot Camp Night

On this night we play an obstacle course game. We used chairs, tables, tires, 2x4's, and any other thing we could find to make an obstacle.

Stinky Feet Night

This is a another name for Scrambled Shoes Night. We played this inside. We added a new variation. After all the shoes were in the middle, all the players faced the wall while the game director mixed up the shoes. Then as they turned around, we turned out the lights. Every ten seconds we would turn the lights on and off. It was a very exciting game. The first team with all their shoes on won.

Glow Night

We supply Glow Sticks for our Clubbers and play games in the dark (almost dark). For council time we have a message on the Light of the world and to be connected to the power source/give light to others not self/etc.

Flyin' High with Jesus

A salvation message and an invitation to Awana, Vacation Bible School and to Grace West Church is inserted in helium balloons and released in the neighborhood.

Layer Night

Clubbers  should dress in as many layers of clothes as they can. When they arrive they should be taken into one large room and the number of articles of clothing taken off and counted until they get down to their normal uniform.
Game Time - Make hundreds of snowballs out of plain white tying paper. Store them in large trash bags. a) Have team snowball fights. Team with the least snowballs in their circle wins.  Council Time Message - "Am I hot or Cold?" Scripture references: Revelation 3:15-16.
Participation prizes are given and 1st-2nd-3rd prizes given.

Harvest Party

Our clubbers always enjoy it. I think that the leaders wiil/can enjoyed it a bit more! Clubbers and leaders too! Dress up. No ghosts, witches or monsters. Goofy-silly- is great. Time to exercise your imagination!

Four Wheelin’ Obstacle Course

We will have small four wheel carts to race in team competition. We will do this three times through the year and have a year end total winning team.

Treasure Hunt

Maps to find the hidden treasure somewhere in the church.

Fruit and Veggie Night

Everyone decorates or dresses a fruit or vegetable. The clubbers really seem to like decorating the fruits/veggies. Maybe because it's a chance to play with their food. We give participation prizes and also 1st-2nd –3rd place.
