Club Basics

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome to AWANA! We’re very anxious to start the new year. We are here to help you equip your child with the Lord’s precious Word. Reciting memorized scripture, hearing a message or explanation of His Word and a time for games, fun and “goofy stuff”.

Club start is Wednesday, September 8th   2010
                        We start at
6:45PM – finish at 8PM.

Cubbies ( 3 and 4 Year Olds) go directly to Room 109, where they will be met by their Leaders. Please be courteous and have your child picked up from their room by 8:15PM.

Sparks ( K, 1st & 2nd ) and TNT’rs (3rd-4th-5th-6th )
start the night in the Game Room, turn left as you enter the building.

Uniforms are required in all Clubs. If the purchase of a uniform creates a hardship, PLEASE tell me. We do not want that to keep you from coming. We will seek a “scholarship” to cover the cost. Wearing uniforms helps with discipline and unity of purpose. No awards are given to a child not in uniform (because they might loose them). The flag holders for the “Opening Flag Ceremony ”each Wednesday night do need to be in uniform to hold the flags.

Books: the entrance tests are free in each Club. Also the Clubber should bring a Bible with them, especially T.N.T’ers, we look up verses.

Theme Nights are a special night of activities planned, such as Veggie Night, Glow Night, Layer Night. Explanations of the Theme Nights can be found on the web site. www.gracewest.org.

E-mail
seems to be the favorite mode of communication. Make sure we have received your e-mail address.

Learning difficulties
should be made known to your child’s Leader or Director. We do not want the child to become frustrated and give up. We can adapt to make things work for your child.

Memorization
of the AWANA verses starts at home, not on Wednesday night. We as AWANA Leaders want to partner with you to help your child grow in knowing, loving and serving GOD. We want to disciple the Clubbers, not be the sole spiritual influence in their life. We see your kids once per week. You see your kids seven days a week, you must be willing to assume the spiritual leader role in their daily life. The eyes of your children are very observant. If you place no importance on their workbook study, why should they. We are committed to help your child grow, if you aren’t, our time spent is nothing more than baby sitting.

Visitation
to your child’s Club is welcomed at any time. You might even decide to stay and be Leader. We would welcome the help. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 515.267.9094 and I will be in touch.
